Here in Denmark summer is pretty much over… I know it is horrible! But I was lucky, because I got to spend 2 weeks in Italy together with my parents and the weather was amazing and so was the surroundings! To be honest I could go back tomorrow, haha 😉
Well, I am now back in Denmark and I have, as always, been super busy. In the beginning of the month I started as an intern at Grundfos (a Danish company that sells pumps), where I have been working with SoMe, which is really interesting and of course challenging – but I am learning a lot, which is the point of internship 🙂
Last week was crazy! Last Sunday my mom and I went to Hamburg, not to relax, but to shop and get away from the horrible weather in Denmark. Hamburg was absolutely beautiful. We went on a canal tour, visited the famous park “Planten un Blomenparken” and drank a lot of Starbucks 😉 Perfect mini-vacation.
And now you are probably asking “Why was last week crazy”? I came home from Hamburg Thursday, Friday I was hanging out with some friends and Saturday I was off to Copenhagen to visit my brother and sister, but I will tell you more about that trip later 🙂 So today I slept until noon, watched too much Netflix and now I am going to the gym. Perfect “I need to relax” day 🙂
Recently I went to Copenhagen for a couple of days, where my sister showed me the restaurant where her boyfriend works. The name of the restaurant is Hafnia and it is a small, very cozy, restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen and they mainly sell vegetarian food and it is so yummy. Like really yummy.
If you ever find yourself in Copenhagen you should definitely go eat here and enjoy one of their burgers together with a shake.
I am now back from an amazing vacation in New York. This was my second time in New York, even though I am not sure if the first-time count since I was only in the city for about 5 hours. This time I saw the statue of liberty, ground zero, the 9/11 memorial museum, central park and much more. We stayed at a hotel right around the corner from the Empire State building and it only took us 20 minutes to walk to Times Square. We also saw the Lion King on Broadway, which was an incredible experience. Everyone who visits New York should see a musical on Broadway – it is an absolutely most.
So, now my when exam is over (yeah :D) I will tell you about my fifth and last trip in 2016. Back in August I went to Alanya, Turkey with my good friend Maria. The purpose of this vacation was to get tanned and drink good, strong drinks. It even took us 3 days to get outside of the hotel and actual see the surroundings and have to admit that the place was beautiful. The only annoying think was that no one told us about the 2 hour bus trip from the airport to the hotel… but not harm done, we survived.
We did not take that many pictures because we were just laying at the pool and in evening we either went to a sports bar to watch the Olympics or we hang out we some of the other Danes.
2016 was one of the better travel years I have had and unfortunately I can already say that I am not going to travel a lot in 2017, because I am saving up for longer trip.
For my fourth trip, last year I went to Italy with my parents. It was very relaxing and we just spend the days laying at the beach. Very peaceful. One of the days we went to Venice and some other islands I can’t remember the names on – but they were extremely beautiful.
In the end of the vacation my sister joined us, which was very cozy. After 2 weeks in Italy we drove back to Denmark and the day after I was off to Turkey.
For my third trip this year I went to Berlin to visit a friend of mine who was, at the time, studying there. This was my third time in Berlin and I really like the city, but at the same time I will admit that it will be awhile before I go back again.
But, even though this was my third time in Berlin I was not bored at all. Berlin is such an amazing city and since my friend lived there at the time she knew where to find the good local restaurants and parks, so I did not feel like a tourist at all.
Of course, we also went shopping, visited attractions, partied and went to a big outdoor event where we saw the German national football team play in the World Cup and luckily they won the game.
My second trip this year went to Amsterdam and this was actually a school trip. This was my first time in Amsterdam and I definitely fell in love with the city. I love the canals, the old buildings and the feeling in the city.
Even though this was a school trip I only saw my teachers twice. We had some tasks we had to do, but we also had a lot of free time. So, of course, I went shopping, visited the Heineken Museum and just walked around enjoying the city.
I am definitely planning to go back and luckily Amsterdam is not far away from Denmark.
Travel wise, 2016 has been an amazing year. I have visited Chicago, Amsterdam, Berlin, Italy and Turkey and I have therefore decided to dedicate 5 blog posts where I will tell you about each destination.
Back in January I went back to Chicago where I used to live and work as an au pair. I visited my old host family and a good friend of mine. My friend and I went downtown where we went to Navy Pier, The Bean, and just walked around and enjoyed the city. We ate good American fast-food and I had my first legal drink in the states. I was also lucky that my host family invited my along on small family trip to Muskegon, where went to a luge track, which did not go that well since I ended up in the ER with a sprained angle, ups.
Chicago is probably my favorite city in the world and I was actually thinking about going back again in January but decided to go to New York instead to see something else. I also thing that next time I go to Chicago it will be in the summer J
